【The Child Allowance System (Money that People Raising Children Can Receive from the Government Office) Will Be Revised】

The child allowance system will be revised from October, 2024 (i.e. payment on December 10th, 2024).
《Major changes》
※In principle, those currently receiving the child allowance do not need to take any actions.

《People who need to apply》
※Application forms will be sent in late August.
●Guardians with only high school-aged children
●Guardians who are not currently receiving the allowance due to excess income
●Guardians raising high school-aged children who need other verifications
※Please contact us if your high school-aged child lives outside the city, or the child is living separately from you.

【Be Prepared for Typhoons】

The season when typhoon approaches and lands 　From July to October
When a typhoon lands, it causes storms and heavy rain.

《Safety Measures Before a Typhoon Comes》
●Check your house and surrounding area and bring in anything which might get blown away.
●If the drain is clogged with garbage, the water will overflow and it is dangerous. If you notice it, please remove the garbage and sand in order to improve the rainwater drainage.
●Confirm where and how to get to safe locations such as a relative’s house or a friend’s house in order to quickly evacuate there.
●Prepare your emergency bag and make preparations for evacuation early.
※The emergency bag is a bag (rucksack) that holds all the necessary items for evacuation. Keep it in a place where you can take it out immediately.

【A multilingual life guidebook has been published】
Even if you leave a company, you are still required to be covered by health insurance in case of illness or injury. If you are no longer eligible for health insurance, please follow one of the following procedures:
“The Kure Life Guidebook for Foreigners” has been published in English, Chinese, Portuguese, and Vietnamese. It contains a lot of useful information for foreigners about life and administrative procedures.
It is distributed free of charge at the International Exchange Center on the 1st floor of the Kure City Hall, Tobu Chiku Foreign Resident Comprehensive Consultation Counter in Hiro Shimin Center, and every local Civic Center.
