【Foreign Residents with No Set Period of Stay Need to Renew the Electronic Certificate on Their My Number Card】

The validity period of the electronic certificate written on your My Number Card is until your fifth birthday from the date of new issue.
After the expiration date, you will no longer be able to use it for electronic applications such as e-Tax (electronic tax return), convenience store certificate issuance services, health insurance cards (My Number Cards), etc.
If you have received a notice of the expiration date of your electronic certificate, please renew it at the Kure City Hall’s Civic Services Division or any Civic Center.
No Renewal fee.

※To update, you will need the 4-digit numeric and 6- to 16-digit alphanumeric password you have already set. If you have a paper with your password written on it, please bring it with you. If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it at the counter.

【Joining Health Insurance is Mandatory even after Separation from Company】

Even if you leave a company, you are still required to be covered by health insurance in case of illness or injury. If you are no longer eligible for health insurance, please follow one of the following procedures.

●Continuing with former company’s insurance (voluntary continuation)
Please complete the procedure your company within 20 days from the date of health insurance disqualification.
●Joining your family’s employer health insurance as a dependent relative
If your expected income is less than the standard amount and you are qualified as a dependent, please complete the procedure at your family’s workplace.
●Joining National Health Insurance
Please bring the Health Insurance Disqualification Certificate, Separation Notice from Employer, etc. and apply at Hoken-nenkin-ka,Shimin-madoguchi-ka, or every local Civic Center.

“The Kure Life Guidebook for Foreigners” has been published in English, Chinese, Portuguese, and Vietnamese. It contains a lot of useful information for foreigners about life and administrative procedures.
It is distributed free of charge at the International Exchange Center on the 1st floor of the Kure City Hall, Tobu Chiku Foreign Resident Comprehensive Consultation Counter in Hiro Shimin Center, and every local Civic Center.
