【Be Careful to Avoid Tick Bites】

From spring to autumn, ticks can be found in mountains, grassy areas, and parks with lots of greenery in Japan. If you are bitten by a tick, you may develop serious illnesses such as Japanese spotted fever or Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (SFTS).

●If you develop the following symptoms a few days after outdoor activities, please go to a hospital:
•Fever or high fever
•Rash (red spots) (A characteristic is that it usually does not itch or hurt.)

●When a tick bites you and remains attached to your skin:
•Do not remove it yourself. (Have it removed at a hospital, such as a dermatology clinic.)

●To avoid tick bites, please do the following:
•Wear long sleeves and long pants (Tuck your shirt into your pants and tuck your pants into your socks.)
•Wear shoes instead of sandals
•Use insect repellent spray
•After returning indoors, check your body and clothes for ticks
